Dad was a member of the RNLI for many years, even after he had to stop sailing, and displayed his car sticker with pride. He was full of admiration for the volunteers who risked their lives to save sailors in distress and probably came close to being rescued himself more than once during his sailing years! I'm sure Mum might have a tale or two to tell. When he sadly died in February after a lengthy deteriorating illness, our family were happy for donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to the RNLI as it was a cause very close to his heart. We know without a shadow of a doubt that he would have approved and is smiling down on us in the knowledge we have helped his favourite cause!
